For some conversations are best had with a woman
Women constitute 50% of the world’s population. With increasing number of working women in our country today, most women struggle to effectively juggle career, family and health.
So far, women’s health has largely been associated with diseases of the breast, child birth and other gynecological issues. When it comes to other diseases like that of the “gastro-intestinal tract, ano-rectal issues, cancers and obesity”, there is a large gap in healthcare services. Unfortunately, more than 70% women lack the requisite knowledge to make “informed” healthcare decisions for themselves and their family.
Trust, time, information and knowledge are the key factors in decision making when it comes to healthcare for women. General and laparoscopic surgery is a very male dominated branch. I took up general surgery as a specialization to fill the gap in women’s health with focus on the specific needs and wants of the female patient when it comes to surgical issues. A “women for women” practice is generally lacking in surgical branches.
In a study conducted at Harbour UCLA Medical Center it was found that gender preferences were stronger among female patients and having a female physician was associated with greater satisfaction in them. This has been widely proven in the field of gynecology where most doctors are females and a high patient satisfaction has been reported world over.
Female doctors tend to spend more time with patients and have lengthier patient visits than their male counterparts. Patients are more comfortable with the demeanor of female doctors and tend to have greater satisfaction in terms of quality and standard of care. They are also more concerned, good listeners, empathetic and tend to generate more trust and confidence in their patients. Trusting relationships between patients and their healthcare providers go a long way in bolstering their confidence.
50% of the world’s population consists of women. Unfortunately, the percentage of women surgeons is much lower. I can sense the sigh of relief when patients who are looking for female surgeons find me 😊.
Women today are starved for time. They constantly toil to juggle their various roles of being a professional, a homemaker, a mother, a wife and so on. More than 70% women don’t do what they should be doing to stay healthy and tend to ignore health issues. Most of them are unaware of the right healthcare facilities that they can approach when they have health issues. In my practice, I provide a holistic platform for all issues related to women’s health. From your first call my team and I, are devoted to your complete medical care. We guide you through the process of obtaining an accurate diagnosis and then development and completion of a customized treatment plan.
In this era of information overload and despite Dr. Google’s best efforts, most women lack the requisite knowledge and are ill-equipped to keep themselves and their loved ones healthy. My team and I help you to build the confidence by providing the best medical advice and treatment plan in your time of need. This is your one stop solution for all health-related issues.
Yes, it is absolutely possible to have an all women team for your surgery if you choose that. We have female anesthetists, physicians, OT technicians and nurses. From the time you check in till you check out we can have an all women team to look after you.
For any of the above problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us. “For only a woman can understand a woman”.
